Project Overviews

Premier Inn is owned by the Whitbread Group and comprises a chain of 800 hotels across the UK. Their Cache-based Hotel Management and Booking system operates 24×7 and supports all their properties from a central data center. As the chain grew they became aware that their architecture of a separate database for each property was becoming untenable. 

We were engaged to convert their application and migrate each of the databases into a single central database. The challenge with this project was to achieve this with virtually no downtime. We developed a transitional approach that enabled the system to run in both single and multiple database modes during the several months-long migration period.

Nola is a California-based health and wellbeing start-up. They commissioned us to design and build a phone-based app for their users. This app captures wellbeing data from their customers and logs it in a cloud-based datastore (YottaDB) for analytical purposes. We used Onsen-UI, HTML, and javascript to build the solution which is cross-compiled using Monaca to run natively on iPhones, iPads, and Android platforms. We also developed and support the cloud-based analytical database.

ClearWater is a marina management system which is configurable to serve the needs of marina managers worldwide.  We developed a solution that provides simplicity, flexibility, and efficiency for even the smallest of marina operations, but also spans bespoke and customize packages for large, multi-marina operators.

Goodfellow is a supplier of materials to scientific and industrial research and development organizations. Typically they supply small quantities of exotic metals and innovative materials to Universities, Aerospace, Defence, Biotech, and other leading-edge research groups. Their Cache system was originally implemented over 40 years ago and has inevitably accumulated a significant amount of technical debt. We have been supporting their systems for several years and during that time have progressively pruned, restructured, and documented the legacy parts alongside ongoing development projects.

Ptarmigan Land is one of the UK’s leading land promotion companies, specializing in Strategic Land, Planning Permission, and Infrastructure Delivery. Ptarmigan uses InterSystems IRIS for their core accounting functions and contracted us to develop a browser-based Purchase Order Processing and Budgeting system that is fully integrated with their legacy telnet-based applications.
